This radio and television presenter has some wise words for shelf-stackers.MY FIRST JOB was as a paper runner in the northern beaches. Dad and I made up a trolley to cart the newspapers around and wandered the streets throwing newspapers at people's houses. The pay wasn't great but for a 13-year-old kid it was amazing. I disliked the hours and the overwhelming responsibility of getting people their news. As I hit puberty, the concept of getting up early really didn't appeal to me.MY WORST JOB was stacking shelves at Coles. I was 18 and had just started my medical-science degree. I started at 10pm and finished at 1am, which was absolutely exhausting on top of uni. I found it a very lonely job. Just me and the cans. The thought of canned goods still makes me shiver. My advice for anyone in a similar position? Don't take it too seriously and be careful of the box cutter!Andrew Rochford is a MIX 106.5 breakfast presenter and panellist on The 7pm Project.
